” Many of us spend our whole lives running from feeling with the mistaken belief that you can not bear the pain. But you have already borne the pain. What you have not done is feel all you are beyond that pain.”
– Kahlil Gibran
Ensoul Psychology is a clinic located in Brightwater on the Sunshine Coast.
Ensoul Psychology provides individual, group therapy and retreats in and around the Sunshine Coast. It emerged out of a growing desire for people to work from a holistic, integrative and non-pathological framework. It recognises that, as the UN Human Rights Council stated, “the biomedical model in mental health care does not work for everyone, and its overuse has left countless people behind.” (UN Human Rights Council, 2017)
Emily’s approach is warm, holistic and integrative, incorporating body, mind, spirit, community and environment.
She supports adults with a wide variety of presentations, including trauma, adverse childhood experiences, mood and anxiety related difficulties and adjustment to major life experiences such as becoming a parent and spiritual emergencies.
Emily is trained in a wide range of therapies, but most often draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). As well as working individually with people, Emily facilitates group therapies such as the Circle of Security parenting program and facilitates retreats in and around the Sunshine Coast.
Besides being a psychologist, Emily is an author and PhD student passionate about non-pathologising and consumer-led approaches that move beyond the biomedical model of mental health care.
